Our range of wooden sash windows are manufactured to replicate a traditional design. Utilising parting and staff beads with integrated weather seals our windows are fully draught-proof and have been brought into the 21st century. We offer two different types of wooden sash window, both detailed below.
Wooden Sash Windows with Weights & Pulleys
Our wooden box sash sliding windows with weights & pulleys uses a timber section size that is designed to replicate the traditional vertical sliding window but allowing for double-glazed units to be fitted. The ball race pulley systems and top-quality ironmongery used on this window help to create a smoothly operating, durable product.
Specification
Ironmongery & Working Mechanism:
- Complete with sash lift handles and central sash ring together with locking fitch fasteners our ironmongery is available in solid brass or chrome.
- Operating on sash cords, ball race pulleys and sash weights, our sash slider with weights & pulleys also has the facility to restrict the opening to 100mm which is provided using a twist lock positioned to allow the sash to open 100mm.
Drainage:
- The traditional box sash slider with weights & pulleys benefit from dry gasket glazed drained glazing rebates allowing any moisture ingress to ventilate to the outside. For high exposure areas, aluminium bottom beads can replace the traditional bottom beads and our internal teams are happy to advise to meet specific project solutions.
Energy Efficiency:
- Currently we do not have our wooden sash window registered with the window energy scheme, however, our close links with BWF allow us to quickly simulate both whole frame u-values and window energy ratings should projects require this. Please contact us to discuss further.
Wooden Sash Windows with Spiral Balances
For wooden sash windows, this is the modern solution to vertical sliders. Our spiral balance system utilises hardware tested to over 10,000 cycles ensuring you receive a highly durable product. Our wooden sash window with spiral balances is suited for the new-build market as it does not require the deep reveals that are required on the traditional sash windows and can in fact be fitted into a standard brick reveal.

Ironmongery & Working Mechanism:
- Utilising pre-tensioned spiral balances with minor adjustments on site (if necessary) and available with lockable or non-lockable fitch fasteners, our wooden sash window with spiral balances is a perfect blend of modern technology whilst maintaining the traditional aesthetics of timber. Ironmongery options include sash rings, D handles and lockable restrictors.
Drainage:
- Using the same principles as our other timber product suites, this wooden sash window benefits from dry gasket glazed drained glazing rebates allowing any moisture ingress to ventilate to the outside. For high exposure areas, aluminium bottom beads can replace the traditional bottom beads and our technical team is happy to advise to meet specific project solutions.
Optional Tilt Facility
- Using spiral balances, fitch fasteners and bar tilt restrictors, our sash slider with spiral balances are able to include a tilt facility that combines traditional appearance with high-rise functionality. Both the top and bottom sashes tilt inwards to between 40-45° with the restrictor supporting a weight of up to 35kg.
