The entrance should belong to the whole elevation.

A front door is visually prominent, but it should still feel connected to the proportions, materials and period of the building.

Farrar can develop the door leaf, frame, sidelights, fanlight, glazing, thresholds and hardware around the opening. That allows the entrance to be treated as an architectural composition rather than a standard product inserted into the wall.

Wooden French doors

Our timber French doors are manufactured to measure in Accoya for the opening they are going into, whether that opens onto a garden, a terrace or an extension. They are painted in the colour chosen for the house. At Sandhill Oval in Alwoodley, Leeds, we made French doors around the customer's own stained glass, which was cleaned and encapsulated in the new double-glazed units. At Shibden Valley near Halifax we made dark timber French doors and glazing.

Wooden stable doors

A stable door opens as two halves, so the top can stand open for light and air while the bottom stays shut. We manufacture them to measure in Accoya, with the ironmongery and paint colour chosen to suit the building, and they suit cottages and farmhouses with a door onto the garden.

Timber bi-fold doors

Weathering, daily use, access, glazing, locking and thresholds must be resolved without losing the visual clarity of the design.

No. We make external doors only: front and entrance doors, French doors, stable doors and bi-folding doors. We do not make internal, cupboard or wardrobe doors.

Doors usually take 6 to 8 weeks from order. We ask for a 50% deposit, with the balance due on completion.

Yes. Panel layouts, glazing, frame arrangement and surrounding sidelights or fanlights can be developed around the project.

Factory-applied finishes and compatible ironmongery can be selected as part of the final specification.

These can be incorporated where the opening, structure and project design allow.

The locking, glazing and hardware specification should be confirmed around the project's security and access requirements.
